I know, I know. Me coming back and doing a review/rant/whatever seems kind of weird, but I want to, so… here we go.

"Andy Black" is kind of a HUGE letdown for me.
Like wow.

When Andy first posted that ig thing talking about it, I was all "Ok, this is cool. I'll give it a try."
…but I think he's getting a tad bit carried away. I mean he said it's a side project, but does he really need a clothing line to support it? I mean really? The single JUST came out. I know he said BVB was still his main priority, and I don't doubt that for a second, but how he's treating Andy Black says differently. I think he should tone it down a little.

I know BVB is what introduced me into the Alt scene and is pretty much the center of my two most successful "novels (or what ever you want to call them)" on Deviantart, but I feel like the Andy I fell in love with (who, unfortunately, wasn't even there when I did get into the band) has changed.
I mean, yeah, it's sort of obvious: people change. They change with age, experience, just life in general. If they didn't I would still want Jesse McCartney as my husband and be everything Cheeta Girls (yeah, I was that kind of kid).

And before all y'all die hard BVB fans start yelling at me, I still like the band. I just feel like it isn't JUST his appearance anymore. He used to be the bad boy who believed in rock and nothing else (at least to me that's how it felt), and now he's turning into more of a pop-ish vibe.
…sort of like how Imagine Dragons (I know different genres, and for the record I do like them) is… in a way.. if you get what I mean.

Remember that time in one of the Bryan Stars interviews he did (It might have been either the first or one with Matt Good), he made a comment about a lot of bands going on stage with a dark appearance, just to come off and wear a t-shirt and jeans. I really don't think there's anything wrong with that, but I feel he's starting to become one of those members.

But, of course, appearance and action doesn't make the band/artist/whateveritis. The art said person/group/thing makes does. And, honestly, Andy Black sounds nothing like I'd hoped. I thought it would be more like 80's rock, or even 80's pop (which I don't really mind), but it sounds waaaay too modern-day pop for my liking.
And I like pop punk.

He sounds auto-tuned (which confuses me because he's a good singer?) and just plain weird (probably because he's singing as low as possible through the whole song). The lyrics are ok. They're better than a lot of shitty pop songs now a days, but it's no "Lost It All." The melody… just.. no comment.

All in all, if it makes him happy, that's fine. He can do what he wants, but it killed any of the rockstar vibe he had left. If that was his goal, great. If it wasn't, next time he should probably think a little more before releasing a song. I personally won't be listening to any more Andy Black and, even though he said it has nothing to do with BVB, it discouraged me from thinking BVB 4 will be anything like their previous 3 albums.

However, I'll try to listen to it with an open mind because I seriously love the guys and I feel like I owe them that much for what they opened up for me, but I'm not going to be a robot. I have opinions and I'm allowed to have them and if you don't like that then why the fuck are you still reading this?

That being said, what do you think of "Andy Black"?

I'm so glad we see eye to eye on this...I listened to it in second hour and I almost cried..because I thought this was what he was doing for the rest of his career like, this was going to be bvb4. now he says it won't be but we shall see....
Also it makes me mad how everyone (or a lot of people) will still waltz around after Andy Black becuase they don't really give a shit about the music, but I do >//< ughhhhh
